As COVID-19 spreads rapidly throughout the globe, medical professionals and scientists are doing all they can to help mitigate the spread of the virus, treat infected individuals, distribute factual information when they have it and save as many lives as possible. 

Ozone is Earth’s natural sterilizer

One of those ways is with our ozone generators, which produces bacteria and virus-killing ozone (O3)*. A biologist in Lombardy, Italy recently discovered that tests he was running on ambulances transporting sick people were coming up negative for the COVID-19 virus. Our MA5000 and MA10K-PRODIGI were specifically used as a part of his disinfection process.

“I am a biologist, I deal with sanitization, and I wanted to thank you. I used your machine MA10K-PRODIGI Digital Ozone Generator 10000mg/h to sanitize the ambulances of Lombardy and the swabs on the surfaces I made were all negative,” Biologist Dr. Domenico Romeo told the Airthereal team in an email. “We also want to put your products on MSC and Costa cruise ships.”

According to Dr. Romeo, he’s been running other brands’ ozone generators but prefers our models due to our more affordable pricing; test results after using other ozone generators have turned up negative as well. This potentially** means ozone is effectively eradicating the virus from surfaces. 

The Decontamination Process

Dr. Romeo was able to prove whether an ambulance was free of COVID-19 contamination with a surface test, which helps aid in the prevention of the spread of infectious diseases. He broke down his entire process for us via email.

His AirLevante team’s ambulance disinfection protocol starts with a surface test (an all-in-one Medi-Check device), disinfecting with H2O2 (an automatic airborne sanitizer) “to remove the biofilm,” then turning on our ozone unit (MA10K) for 20 minutes, and finally allowing the ozone to dissipate before performing a follow-up surface test. All follow-up surface tests post-ozone treatment came back negative for the virus, or green for “PASS,” according to the device’s color chart.
