The PM2.5 sensor is constantly air quality to give you fresh air without excessive noise levels. If the air quality in the room changes, the fan speed will automatically adjust to bring the air quality back to a healthy level. Once the air quality is healthy, the fan speed will slow down.

I absolutely love this air purifier. Not only does it look great, but it's light weight, not noisy, and has so many functions that I was looking for. I love the UV-C sanitation. We have 3 kids sharing a room, and when one gets sick they all do. So it's nice to know the UV-C light is killing germs and viruses in the air while they sleep. I also love the auto mode that will detect the level of particles in the air to determine how fast of a speed it needs to be at. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a high quality purifier at an affordable price.

I *conditionally* recommend this model. It is solid in construction and quiet at the lower fan speeds (1-3). Fan speeds 4 and 5 are fairly noisy but still reasonable. Note that the display cannot be turned off when the fan is in auto mode. Setting the unit to Night mode is the only way to turn off the display but it also locks the fan to the lowest speed. A BIG shortcoming (my view) is that the HEPA filter does NOT seal against the fan housing. There is a 2mm gap. Airthereal says the gap is intentional to prevent damage to the HEPA filter from rotational torque when installing it. But I suspect at low fan speeds a significant percentage of the air bypasses the filter by flowing through the gap. Also, the HEPA filter is very strong and rigid. I liked the model enough to keep it, so I added 1/4" thick self-adhesive weather stripping to the bottom of fan housing. The HEPA filter now seals very well against the weather stripping and did not come even remotely close to causing damage to the filter. 1/8" weather stripping will also work. With the gap sealed I'm now confident the medical HEPA filter has a reasonable chance of filtering out the smaller virus and allergen particles that would otherwise bypass the filter through the gap. If your main purpose is the filter smoke, dust, etc. then the presence of the small gap may not be a concern.

I have no way of telling how effective the air purifier is, but I like that it is easy to use, quiet, and inexpensive. I have noticed that the air quality sensor is really good at determining when there is smoke in the air and I like being able to see what the air quality is.
